Gerbil Canapé, Anyone? I found the following in my parish newsletter if anyone fancies it. I can just see the Greyhounds spreading their tartan blanket out and making picnic selections from what I imagine will be an extensive choice of small furries (what else could the vicar possibly mean by his comment “contributions welcome!”)? Joking aside, if anyone is interested (and it seems that they’ve run “incident-free” events previously), it’s at St James’s Church in Ab Kettleby. “Pet Service.
We have had two very successful pet services in the recent past. This year it will take place on Sunday 24th June at 3.00pm. We hope that villagers will again turn out with their cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and even ponies! It is a fun family event and a chance to show how much we care for and appreciate our pets. The service will be in the churchyard with a pet picnic served afterwards (contributions welcome!)
The Reverend Jeff Hopewell” For the less adventurous……Something for more timid souls, also found in Village Life, is a fun dog show at Ab Kettleby Manor on Sunday 29th July. Amongst other things it apparently includes: Gun dog scurries Dog with the waggiest tail Dog who can perform best trick Best puppy 3-6 months If anyone would care to join me I was thinking of asking Claire if I might take one of the rescues in the “I Need A Home” jacket. No times given, just a phone number for further particulars (01664 822258) and a promise of more details in July’s exciting edition of the newsletter.

That sounds really interesting, wish i lived near a village. I would pass on the one in the church yard in case we added a few bodies caught by my winning brace but the other sounds like a great opportunity to promote the plight of greyhounds

Definitely pass on the church service; aside from the potential need for a requiem mass if M & B joined the small furries, I'm an athiest and M & B are non-pracitising Buddists. But 29th July sounds like fun, so if we're not camping (dates not sorted yet) we should love to join you, Sol and any rescues.

But 29th July sounds like fun, so if we're not camping (dates not sorted yet) we should love to join you, Sol and any rescues. I doubt that my nerves would stand the pet service either - I don't think I could cope with that level of potential carnage! The 29th sounds like fun though and the more the merrier; Sol and I would be delighted if some of our "homies" joined us. That sounds really interesting, wish i lived near a village. I would pass on the one in the church yard in case we added a few bodies caught by my winning brace but the other sounds like a great opportunity to promote the plight of greyhounds Village life is all well and good Nancy but remember, we don't have the opportunity to enjoy the sort of parties that your neighbours throw! I thought that as the dog show is only 5 minutes down the road from White Lodge a bit of ruthless publicity for the rescues wouldn't go amiss (if Claire hasn't run out by then - they seem to be flying out of the kennels at the moment ;D )

We may it down your way. Budgie is hankering after another pub lunch. Dino would love to meet up again. I bet my neighbors are quiet compared to you neighbours, we only indulge in orgies and excessive drugs and alchohol ;D

Are we having a WL delegation? If so we might turn out - I think we are back for that one.
Any more details of times or classes yet? I don't think we'd do well in tail wagging or tricks - unless you count sleeping through your training class?

No times given, just a phone number for further particulars (01664 822258) and a promise of more details in July’s exciting edition of the newsletter. The lady who is hosting this gave me some programmes and schedules last week and it really does look very well organised and fun. Weather permitting, Sol and I will definitely be there and would be delighted should anyone care to join us. Unfortunately, I can't scan and post the details on the message board but if anyone is interested, just PM me your postal address and I'll happily mail them to you. Entries from 12 noon and judging starts at 1pm (2 rings). There are 23 classes - plenty for the pedigree pointies and lots for the mutts (sorry, "lurchers" ) too. Sol's going to kill me for calling him a mutt There's also a car boot sale, licensed bar, stands and stalls and I'm told that anyone can have a pitch free of charge. Some newsreader or other from East Midlands Today is judging a couple of the fun classes and presenting prizes so there's a possibility that TV cameras will be there too if it's a "slow news day". If anyone would like to meet up with me and Sol, you'll most likely find us at the cake stall ;D (unless he's otherwise occupied in the fancy dress class.........) .

Thought about a new thread but I like to recycle! College Garth (Hathern) have sent us some upcoming events. (College Garth is where we got Jasper from lo those many years ago - 3 to be exact!) . Anyway: 1. They have a stall at the 'Exemption Dog Show' at Wysall Lane Wymeswold July 29th, 11:30 am - 5 pm. - Clashes with the above and Alison started the thread so prioritise!! 2. Their own sponsored dog walk on Sunday 19th August from Derby Rd playing fields in Loughborough starting at 1pm - 3pm for starting and to finish c.4pm 3. The Hathern Dog Rescue Annual Dog Show September 2nd Gates Open 12noon and reg start at 12:15. There are 21 different classes and his Jaspership qualifies for the veteran class this year (7 years or older). Not too happy about it and still wants to enter the Hansdomest Dog class too . For more info, the phone numbers are 01509 842327 and 07851 729972. Like White Lodge, these folks do a great job in a tough environment, and Jasper owes them big time.

Does any1 have a list of classes for either the Ab Kettleby or Wymeswold show? Im tempted to go to the Ab Kettleby one, just to see what glorious accessories Monsiour Sol is sporting... LOL I have been tempted to paint Skye's nails on a couple of occasions, but stopped myself, as his gender is already in question... most people think hes a girl because of his name!! Any ideas on a more masculine version???
