We're going to have to cancel - Max is nowhere near ready for such an outing unfortunately. I thought he might be by now but it would be way too exhausting for him. Hope you all have a great time. xx

Hi Claire,
I am sure that the best Christmas gift for you and your family is that Max is well along the road to recovery. You are absolutely right to not jeopardise that in any way.
If this goes as well as I anticipate, I am sure it will be repeated so we'll see all of you next time, hopefully.

It will only be me plus a hound at the WL meal now. Demetre is in the riots in Athens and Sophia is going elsewhere. See you all on Saturday.

Jo,
I have just been reading the news reports about Athens, I hope Demetre is safe away from the main areas of unrest and he will be home with you and the family as soon as possible. I know the media make it look worse than it is but you must be worried. All of us here at Quinn Towers are thinking of you and Demetre,

Thanks for you kind thoughts. Demetre is about 10 miles out of Athens near to the airport and is not planning to go in to the centre whilst this is happening. He is there on business but whether any gets done remains to be seen! Still he'll be able to visit some family and perhaps contact customers by phone if they are at work. Am I having Drifter as my Christmas hound on Saturday or do you think any will want to come from WL as I imagine they will be Meet and Greeting? or hopefully gone to their new homes or spending time with their soon to be owners.

Oh...that's a relief about Demetre, Jo.
Drifter would be dleighted to be your 'date' (are none of the kids interested?) but I am sure that Gill would suggest one of the lovelies if you would prefer to give one of them a treat. Give Gill a call and see which ones are going M&Ging.

Gill said that the dogs that are left at WL will be probably be M & Ging so Drifter is very welcome to be my date! See you soon Drifter.

Less than a day to our Christmas Lunch and I am REALLY looking forward to it.
One small point to note, please: There is a resident terrier (Border, I think, but small and hairy...) called Emma and other diners often bring their own dogs of various sizes so if you know your hound is a little 'funny' about small dogs, please be extra careful and maybe think about muzzling until we get in and sat down in our section.

Can't wait to be around the lovely open fire at the Grange with my dinner in front of me! Such a horrible day.
Also, there are empty polytunnels that we can let the dogs run in, so no need for them to get wet either!

Alison has it right on the button: great company, great food, great service.
The Alpine really is a special place. They could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. If YOU have a place like this near you, please let us know. We all agreed that we need to arrange more of these outings and to have venues all over the county so all recommendations would be gratefully received. Alison and I and dogs will enjoy the recce!!!
Seeing Blue again today was a thrill in itself. Those of us who remember the 4 scrawny, cowering puppies at WL in May/June can hardly believe this stunning, confident young man. He is truly beautiful and all credit to Abi and Kate. He behaved impeccably at the lunch and I am seriously tempted to go into the dognapping business.....

We had such a fantastic time! Blue spent the rest of the afternoon/evening on his back, snoring. Love the hounds in hats photos (Whistler looks very dapper indeed!). The remembrance of all those hounds bombing up and down the polytunnel is still making me laugh.
We have no idea how the puppies looked when they reached WL - by the time we saw Blue he'd benifitted from a lot of WL love and care, but we certainly see his confidence growing with each day (often manifested in distinctly cheeky behaviour!). We're very proud of him for yesterday (and relieved that, aside from eyeing up James' turkey, he wasn't too much of a scamp!).
We can't wait for the next one, either.
Thanks Amanda - this really was such fun.
