Enjoyed the walk and Ted definitely did! My husband has been talking about Ted so King Ted is obviously beginning to work his magic on him - good boy. My husband remarked at the end that Ted had asked him for a pint of lager - not sure if that telepathic message got scrambled!! Never mind at least they were talking.

What a lovely walk. We're all tired, too! Thanks for the loan of Drifter, Siani. Didn't take many photos - think these are the better ones...

My husband remarked at the end that Ted had asked him for a pint of lager - not sure if that telepathic message got scrambled!! Never mind at least they were talking. Nope, I distinctly heard Ted say that (had him down as a cider boy so I was quite surprised). I think he's leading your hubby astray Jo! Anyway, leaving Ted's drinking habits aside, what a fantastic turnout for a November Walk and weren't we lucky with the weather?! I don't recall ever going to Melton Country Park without getting drenched. Lovely to catch up with the regulars and meet some new hounds and folks too. Special thanks to Darren, Jojo and Demetre for taking the time to bring Jill, Nozie and Ted along. They so obviously enjoyed their mini-break from the routine of kennel life and seeing them socialising happily was thoroughly heartwarming. Nicki's radar was similarly tuned in Betty comes to White Lodge as a boarder and it was great to see her making new friends on the walk todayMr and Mrs Suki with their bossFrom left to right: Skye, Katymay, Gill, Molly, Jill and Darren"Attention seeking, moi?" Sol sees a camera - enough said I'll be posting a poll or something at some point to decide the schedule of walks from April 2009 onwards. Jazz and Ellis's garden is adjacent to the car park for Watermead and their folks have kindly offered to lay on refreshments if we'd like to include that as a venue. A summer month and sizzling sossidges are sounding good to me if anyone else is up for it!

Lovely photos. I see my little favourite Jill was there, how was she with the other dogs? Dreadful Linda But the naughtiness was very half-hearted and temporary. She had a pop at Skye, Gill's golden retriever Molly, Sol, Nicki and various others then walked happily side-by-side in step with them after that for the duration (see pics). We met dogs of other breeds en route, small and large, and she was fine with them. She's an assertive little minx and likes to display her dominance but once that's over and done with she's a complete sweetie with other dogs. Were I to foster her I wouldn't envisage any aggro whatsoever between she and Sol - and he's something of a spiteful dominant chauvinistic macho individual if I'm honest. Jill just needs to say what she's got to say to other dogs and once that's done, it's easy plain companionable sailing.

A great walk...whether you went the long way or (slightly) shorter way!!
Good pictures too, considering the not-so-good weather. Especially loving the one of Darren and Jill on the little mound, some autumnal leaves scattered around them and a noble pose from both. Jill had a very set 'comfort zone' with certain other dogs. But with people she is an absolute little sweetheart. For someone with no cats and no other dogs around who just wanted a cuddlehound, she would be ideal.
The boys have been pretty much crashed out since we got home although there was a certain universal rallying of spirits when Sunday dinner was served!!! They always get their Yorkshire, little taste of meat and good sploosh of gravy and it rounded off the day just perfectly.

Awww...poor Alison, does no one make you real Yorkshire and proper gravy?
Once Drifter has moved to pastures new there will be a vacancy at Quinn Towers so if you promise not to boing onto the kitchen counters, steal socks or pee on rubbish bags, we will consider your application most favourably.
President Amanda and all at Quinn Towers.

Oh Jill, she obviously sees her self as Top Dog and once she's made that clear to the others will let it drop as well as they treat her with respect ;D If people and dogs can put up with her I think these outings can only do her good.I think you're right Alison re- Sol I'm sure she could live with the right male, probably not bitches , as long as they were left to sort themselves out.....within reason , of course if she were to throw Sol into a bucket of water and hold him under you may want to intervene. ;D ;D ;D
