Burrough Hill was specifically chosen for the October walk because past experience informed us that it would be wild and windy, providing anorak hang gliding opportunities. No chance today - the weather was glorious! Dog Rescue Lover and I were getting quite competitive (I'd spent ages choosing my best "tournament quality" jacket for the occasion in order to win) but the sun shone down as it has done on every White Lodge walk so far this year. We must be righteous souls indeed, or very lucky at least!
Burrough Hill looking from the bottom..........
........and Quinn taking in the view at the summit
Birthday Boy Dave and his special girl Molly (still the pin up boy in the convent dormitory I've no doubt, but what a shame the bearded nuns didn't turn up to give him the bumps )
Pretty Betty and her Mum
Ellis pulling his 1970s Farah slacks advert face, gazing into the distance and looking too suave for words
Matron, Nev, Xander, Suki's Dad and Quinn. The usual hound-sharing kibbutz arrangement that characterises White Lodge walks.
Dog Rescue Lover (Sarah) and The Gang
Lil' Sian at the topscope
Gill, Chris and Maisie
Pointy dogs invade the rampart thingies. Did anyone else clock the woman withgreyhound lunch the long haired chihuahua legging it when she saw us approaching? She shouted something to me along the lines of Greyhounds in number being an impressive sight and congratulated us on the superb condition of all our hounds. Time she got herself a proper dog I reckon!
Amanda, Xander, Sian, Quinn, JoJo, Sol and Dimitri
Ellis, Suki and their Dads
Tracey's Tassels. Some hounds have personal shoppers........
.....whilst others prefer to choose for themselves
It was Jen's turn to wear the "most mugged for treats" hat on this walk and she got thoroughly mobbed. It never ceases to impress me that White Lodge hounds get along so beautifully. Treats must surely be one of the biggest flashpoints for potential arguments yet it never happens. They all take their turn politely and there's never any falling out.
A special kiss from Jess for Sarah
Jazz and Ellis
Tired, lazy, "don't want to go home yet" or just plain cheeky? Either way Morty insisted on being lifted into the back of the car (much to the amusement of onlookers ;D )
Lester, Xander, Jazz and Suki posing for the camera
Many thanks to everyone for such great company, as always. A special thank you from White Lodge later in the Weekly News thread to Amanda and Siani but personal thanks here to Jojo and Dimitri for keeping Sol entertained while I took these photos. I'm already looking forward to the walk next month!
