The August walk i's Salcey Forest - our local. There's more details on The Beastly Beasts website but I thought I'd put some info here too. To give you an idea of the journey time it takes me - in The Beast Bus, so definitely not speeding ;D, about 45 mins to get from J21A (A46) to J15 (A508) of the M1and Salcey is 10 to 15 mins from there. There is a map and directions from J15 to Salcey Forest on The Beastly Beasts website. Car parking in the main car park is £2. If you drive past the main entrance there is an overflow car park a couple of hundred yards further on on you left (if you get to the cross-roads you've gone too far) that is free. If you park here there is a path that goes to the main entrance road - follow it until you reach the wooden barriers then turn right on to the main entrance road. We'll meet on the lawn in front of the cafe area. The paths we'll be using are well made and suitable for pushchairs and there are no hills, apart from the Tree Top Walk which if you haven't been before is worth doing as it takes you up to the forest canopy. In Salcey Forest there is no requirement to pick up poo, but I'm sure everyone will. Thing is there are no bins for dog poo, so I will bring a big sack to put it all in. As mentioned, there is the cafe, so assuming it's a nice day (a bit rash perhaps, but always the optimist ;D) we can have a tea/coffee and cakes/sandwiches afterwards. I hope I've covered everything, but if not just ask away. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

Am really looking forward to this one, haven't been before and feel haven't seen you guys for ages! Like idea of cafe too, lol!!! Would anyone have any objection if i brought Dizzy's cousin (my sister's pooch!) with us - she's a border terrier and an absolute angel on walks? Understand if not as some of our hounds aren't small furries fans and don't really want to explain to my sister that she's been eaten!

Would anyone have any objection if i brought Dizzy's cousin (my sister's pooch!) with us - she's a border terrier and an absolute angel on walks? Anyone and everyone is welcome. Salcey is a popular place with dog walkers of all types - I will never forget the day we encountered a lady walking four or five Yorkies; Dino was - how shall I put this - interested ;D

Knowing Yorkies, Dino would've got a lot more than he bargained for had he tried to eat one! ;D Can't wait for this walk. Have been meaning to get to Salcey Forest for a while, but haven't managed it yet. A WL walk is a good enough excuse as any!

although one of Her foster mums dogs was a little terrier. I think that should read terror! ;D I'm gutted. I now can't make this walk . I was so looking forward to it, but we have arranged 2 viewings on properties near Telford and Matlock, so no chance of getting along to Salcey. Perhaps we can arrange an additional walk at Salcey Forest for another time?

Sorry to say we can't make this one either.Have to continue with the garden.Got some decking down now but need to do the rest ,as soon as we get any rain there is mud all in the house compliment of the gruesome twosome ;D and I can't be doing with that all winter,Was really looking forward to it and Suggs wanted to show off his new skill, chasing...... birds and rabbits ;D ;D he chased for the first time yesterday ably assisted by Molly and we were within an inch of having rabbit stew for supper ;D ;D ;D.Trouble is tonight he spent the whole walk tracking, sniffing and pointing, where did my lovely gentle boy go ;D ;D

Only been to Salcey once and the lack of poo bins was the only fault I could find. If there's no requirement to pick up then I'm happy to kick it into the undergrowth - that's all the farmers in my neck of the woods ask - but if you're up for collective carrying Yeti, I'm happy to help Not so much "happy" as "prepared to do" if I'm honest but the offer is genuine all the same. Thinking about it, there was one other fault if I'm going to nit pick: long queues at the caff (which I have to say served up the most fantastic home made cakes). Is there any chance you could persuade them to divulge their phone number to you? That way we could call when we're 15 minutes away and ask them to prepare our comestibles so we can dive in without delay upon our return to Base Camp. Just a thought.

We're going to sit this one out. Tiny's drugs are making him him up bugs at the mo so we don't want to spread or receive any germs.
I'm hoping he'll be okay for Dogs on the Park next week.

'Dad' is in Aberdeen, so mom is going to have a go at driving on the m-way . Dad's suggestion that she use the sat-nav was met with scorn and derision - I'm not sure she even knows how to plug it in! After 12 years of driving in this country, you'd think she would be a bit more confident. I'm requesting a mild sedative for the journey and earplugs - mom can swear something terrible if she gets lost! God willing, we will see you in Salcey. lol Jasper
