I'm looking forward to the walk I've not been to Watermead Park before so can someone tell me which car park I aim for from the north entrance? There are quite a few according to the map (one on the right, one on the left and three if you go straight on). Thanks and see you all on Sunday

North End Car Park - Watermead Directions: At the junction of the A46 / A607 - the big 'Hobby Horse' roundabout, head south on the A607 towards Thurmaston / Leicester. You will see a sign saying 'Watermead North and South'. Go under the bridge and take the next left turn at the Bentley garage (signposted to Watermead North). Take first exit at the roundabout (no choice really). Up to the end and turn left - you go back over the A607 on the bridge you went under. Straight over the roundabout and past the Hope and Anchor pub on your right. As you reach the traffic island turn left into the North car park and get £1.50 ready for the car park - it's pay on entry. I think it's the furthest car park, so the one closest to the Mosaic Lake on map below. www.leics.gov.uk/watermead_map_and_key.pdfI hope this helps. However, I usually park in Birstall near to the Mulberry Tree pub for FREE and walk with the dogs to the North Carpark - probably about a 15 minute walk.

It's the car park next to the finger lake but i've not been down since last august and i've been told that car park has all been altered.
I'm guessing the best people to tell you what's changed down there would be daisy's or harry's owners.

I hope you don't mind me asking on here (I know you're a friendly bunch) ;D
Would anyone mind bringing along some nail clippers (not not for me, for the dog! ) and be able to show me how to clip Enzo's nails please?
I have read about clipping them but I'm still not sure as his nails are black so I can't really see what I'm doing and I've never done it before. If someone is confident enough to show me I thought it would be the ideal opportunity for me to learn.
Thanks

I will be coming on the walk and have nail clippers I can bring with me. I'm happy to take a look at Enzo's nails, but am not sure I would be 100% happy clipping black nails in case I cut the quick! I'm lucky, Ozzy and Whistler have light coloured nails so I can see the quick. I cut their nails every 2 weeks to try to keep them as short as possible. Claire

We'll be there with Evie and looking forward to it!
May I ask a question about walk etiquette - on the lead or off? I appreciate this is usually an individual decision based on each dog, the location, likely risks etc but over and above this, does the group have a preference? Anything else you'd advise us newbies?
Thanks

Generally most dogs are on leads. I used to let Caleb off as he would potter about and not run or excite the others, but as I have 3 now I tend to keep them all on leads. Sometimes, depending on the venue, there is an opportunity to let a few dogs have a good run off lead together.

My preference is dogs on lead, only because if dogs are running and chasing around at speed, the on lead dogs can get very excited and I find mine quite difficult to handle as they lunge and twirl. We have three and the other day we had the two males off lead and Tia by then was back on lead.As they were chasing around near to her Tia lunged at Flynn and had a real pop at him, she is normally a very friendly, well mannered girl with other dogs.I think the adrenalin rush was really high and she forgot her manners.

Hi Sue, you'd be very welcome, we're a very friendly group of people who suffer varying degrees of madness ;D ;D ;D ;D only joking , but we do like a laugh. People here have in the main rescue dogs and are very understanding of behaviours in different dogs .I'm sure once Alice becomes more confident she'll be fine.We won't be there on this walk, decorating, but hope to see you on the June one.We had Border Collies for many years so will look forward to meeting Alice.

I have an unpredictable girl and she also gets very excited when dogs are running round. She barged into a young lad on last months walk (which i know hurt him a lot),about pulled my arm/shoulder out of joint because a dog was running round and she was over excited. So my preference is dogs on leads.
