Just to let you all know that I have booked our places for the Sunday lunchtime at the Grange. I have booked for 16 for now but that it NOT written in tablets of stone and we have our 'usual' corner so exact numbers is not an issue. You can pick from the usual Sunday menu which includes tartiflette and roasts or have the 3 course Christmas menu which is a fixed price of £19.95 including coffee. www.houghtys.co.uk/2009/10/05/christmas-dinner-at-the-grange/Make sure you have some extra pennies for the fabulous little gift shop and the wonderful cards that they stock. They also do a wide range of ski and outdoor wear. Can't wait to see everyone there. I hope that some 'new' owners will come and join us too.

I was wondering whether anyone is planning on walking from White Lodge to The Grange for this meal? If so, is there a route across the fields? If it's dry it would be nice to walk, perhaps not such a good idea if it's raining though! If anyone wants to meet at WL, is Gill okay with us parking at the kennels? As I know the kennels isn't usually open to the public at that time.

Hi Claire!!
The boys send woofs and sniffs to their pals!!
There is a route across the fields and Gill pointed it out to us once, saying something like "It's only just over a mile on foot and probably quicker than driving". However, we've never actually tried it so I suggest a quick phone call to the lady herself should give you a better idea. I imagine it originates from the waterfowl nature reserve as you would have to get across the railway. If it's dry, that sounds like a wonderful appetite-builder!
The Grange are always very welcoming and accommodating so, even though I have technically booked for 16, that's more of a guide. Clearly, we couldn't include the Dagenham Girl Pipers at short notice but as far as White Lodgers are concerned, it is most definitely "the more the merrier!"
Look forward to seeing you all there!!!
Amanda and the QT crew.

Ho Ho Ho White Lodgers!!! Just to remind everyone.... The Christmas Lunch is booked for Sunday, 12.30 at the Grange Asfordby Hill, LE14 3QU. It's on the A6006 between Melton and Asfordby; just follow the brown signs. Please feel free to join us if you are able to at the last minute. The Grange are always amazingly accommodating and do everything from a filled jacket potato to a full roast dinner. If anyone would like the full Christmas menu : www.houghtys.co.uk/2009/10/05/christmas-dinner-at-the-grange/at £19.95 please would you call the Grange on 01664812802 ASAP and say you are "Fred and Ginger from the RGT White Lodge booking on Sunday at 12.30 and we would like the Christmas menu". You CAN order it on the day as normal but it will take longer to cook for you so it's best to let them know ahead of time. I had a quick nose around the gift shop this morning and all I can say is.... Bring your pennies!!! There are some gorgeous little pretty things and great stocking fillers and unusual continental tree decorations. Party hats are optional..... (Ozzy is very grateful I am sure ) but smiling faces and light hearts are compulsory!! See you all on Sunday!!

I'm not sure we will be able to make it after all. Feel lousy, sore throat, hacking cough, etc. Don't want to spread my germs around, so unless I feel a lot better by Sunday we won't be there. Hope you have a great time and hopefully see you at the next walk.

Sorry you're still ill Brenda - hope you feel better soon.
We also thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - thanks to all who suggested/organised/created the poll/booked the restaurant. Blue was absolutely exhausted Sunday night: brilliant!
