I was wondering whether anyone fancies a christmas meal at The Grange, Asfordby? I really enjoyed it last year, great to catch up with everyone, the food was very tasty, and we can take dogs too! www.grange-gardencentre.co.uk/cms_pages/index.htmgrange-gardencentre.co.uk/cms_images/christmas+menu+2009.pdfChristmas Menu - 23 Nov - 1 Jan If so, how about a Saturday lunch in November / December? Is there anyone that lives locally / goes there and could enquire about a booking / arrange this? ;D Just thought I'd post and enquire as to interest / availability. Claire

It doesn't have to be a Saturday. Sunday would be equally fine with me, and I don't mind where either. I mentioned The Grange as dogs are allowed in.
Tracy, do you know if we can take dogs into the Flying Childers? That would be perfect if we could! ;D

Seems a bit silly to go out for a meal when we are all connected by our dogs and not take the dogs. :/ Especially as we can meet at WL and the more adventurous can actually walk across to The Grange to tire the hounds out before the meal! Or we could have runs in the WL paddocks in groups then drive over for the less adventurous (or plain lazy, like me ). The Grange has always been amazing for us even when we took 5 dogs with 4 humans (Quinn, Xander, Drifter, Sparky and Sam - which was saying something!) and do AMAZING food and a good mix of veggie stuff and meat stuff. So, my vote is for the Grange!

Well maybe some people would prefer no dogs going.

Strange you should be talking Christmas meal as I thought about last Christmas meal driving home yesterday. As I don't have a dog its not really up to me to decide which venue would be better but I still would vote for The Grange - in December, as very busy most weekends in November.

Love the idea of a meal but wouldn't take my dogs as I like some none doggy time very occasionally ;D ;D

Sounds like the Grange has the most interest so far. We need to decide whether it's humans and dogs, or just humans! That will determine where we go. Or we could have two separate outings, one to The Grange with dogs for those who wish to take dogs, and one to the Flying Childers for a dog free zone! ;D
Does anyone know how to set up a couple of votes - The Grange or Flying Childer's? Saturday or Sunday? I think that would be the simplest and fairest way of making a decision.

Alison,Sarah or chris have to set up voting so you would need to contact one of them.

I'm happy to set up a poll for this but unless Chris or Sarah know something I don't (which is entirely possible!) I think it would have to be one poll to vote Sat vs. Sun and another for Grange vs. Childers - i.e. two separate threads.

I'm sure Chris or Sarah could set up a 4-button vote:
Grange/Saturday Grange/Sunday Childers/Saturday Childers/Sunday.
Tracey, have you actually had a meal at the Childers recently? Can you give us some more info? Anyone else have experience of the Childers? I quite like the idea of a meal without the dogs and have often wondered what the Childers is like as we drive past, but we are always made so welcome at the Grange and there's always Tartiflette....
I think it would be important to have more information about the Childers before making a decision.

I know there are a fair few vegetarians (myself included) and I am really not happy with the vegetarian options from The Childers to be honest. :/ In the normal menu there are just 3 vegetarian main meal options, one is a salad which isn't a hearty winter meal! One has butternut squash which a lot of people don't like and the 3rd has goats cheese, which again, a lot of people don't like. The christmas menu only has one vegetarian choice, which, on a personal level, contains nuts, which I am allergic to and again contains (the dreaded!) goats cheese. Sorry to be a pain, but I know a few of us are veggie and the choices are very restricted so it is really going to alienate a fair few people.
