Anyone for up an online dog show?
I’ve e-mailed Leicslass with a few questions and some ideas based on the posts already made and following is my first rough draft of a Grand Plan. Please feel free to add input so that things can be honed to suit us all:
White Lodge/Leics RGT is such a lovely inclusive community but the way the rules read to me it seems inevitable that some hounds are going be excluded which is a shame but I can’t see any way around it Just plucking some random examples out of the air, Brenda could enter Rudy and Caleb as they were rehomed by WL but not Poppy as she wasn’t. Dittohound slaves owners Richard and Mary – Lulu would be eligible but Lord Jasper is not as he found his forever home with them via another rescue organisation.
On a similar but slightly tangential note I guess that lurchers and longdogs (aka mongrels as far as the RGT are concerned) would also qualify as they were officially rehomed by WL so entries would not be strictly limited to purebred ex-racing greyhounds.
I’ve always made a huge point of encouraging every rehomer to visit this message board and keep in touch here so if they choose not to enter it definitely isn’t a consequence of not being able to find us.
I also have regular contact with rehomers by phone, text and e-mail and know that all of them now have full internet access and regularly log on even though they might not post. The Dog Show thread will be a public one so won’t exclude those who’ve chosen not to become members. In terms of not being able to PM me because they haven't registered, they have all my contact details and can let me know by other means should they wish to enter.
*Just checked out the “approx 150 words” thing and it equates to something like the first paragraph here. Enough to tell the tale by my reckoning and there’ll be some latitude so don’t sweat it – write away, be vaguely mindful and just try not to exceed the suggested limit by too much!

- PM me with a photo (or a maximum of two if you have “before and after” pics) and your hound’s story which should be limited to *approx. 150 words. The story could be anything from tragic beginnings to a happy forever life or the transition from successful racing career to equally successful sofa-loafing
- By condition of entry you agree to attend the GGG in person with your dog for final judging in the event that you are the winner of the poll which I'll set up.
- I’ll make a locked thread and post all eligible entries there, photo(s) and words.
- I’ll make another unlocked thread where we can chat and discuss related stuff.
- After the closing date for entries has been decided upon by consensus amongst the folks reading this, a poll will be set up to allow everyone to vote. I suggest leaving that open for a couple of weeks after which the winner will be announced and the RGT informed of the result.
