The first White Lodge Walk in the snow as far as I’m aware and wasn’t it lovely? I was too busy gossiping to get any decent pics today so I’m glad everyone else did! Linda and Jen – if you can either arrange to meet up somewhere with me or come to WL one weekend morning I will get some nice portraits of Dizz and Tia together for you, I promise I really missed everyone who couldn’t make it but it was good to meet some of the new hounds and folks who joined us. So kind of the people who collected Rosie and Corrie from White Lodge to give them a chance to socialise too. Not yet in a position to own a dog but they were more than a bit smitten with a certain boy…… Thanks again for great company and especially to everyone who helped everyone else shift their vehicles from the car park. Jasper and Lulu’s Dogfather and Suki’s Slave were real heroes p.s. Hope you don’t mind Richard but I copied your photo of me and Sol and “did stuff” to it in my darkroom. I had no idea how daft those earmuffs looked so maybe I shouldn’t have bothered. Thank goodness I ditched the matching scarf!

Lovely pics , we'll get together for a photo call on one of the walks Alison, no probs, I knew Tia was like Diz but when we got them together the resemblance was amazing. I know they're both little Black Bitches but they both have light brown eyes, a petite frame and the same demeanor.Lovely to see everyone, our two crashed out now. Bliss ;D

I knew Tia was like Diz but when we got them together the resemblance was amazing. I thought the same Linda; they’re so alike (particularly the eyes) they must be related somewhere along the line. Next time they’re together I’d like to get a really good photo. Unfortunately Queen Sian woke up before I could take her picture, fast asleep!!! What a bummer – I’d have paid good money to see that! ;D Digressing slightly, Sian made the most hilarious comments about my hat on the December Walk at Thornton Reservoir, so priceless that I’ve passed them on to all who know me. They say they couldn’t have phrased it better. At the start of the walk she likened me to a Cossack doll. At the end she commented (with unsurpassable tact) that: “the novelty still hasn’t worn off”. Overlooked rescue boy Sam is notorious for his ability to destroy furry toys in record time. It was so cold on Saturday morning that I wore the hat and didn’t give it a second thought when I went to groom him in his kennel. Gill happened to drop by to tell me something at that point and it was a case of Step Away Slowly, Alison…..Cossack doll hat danger… red alert. Thanks to a new feeding regime Sam’s enthusiasm for fake fur is happily diminished so the headgear lives to tell the tale. I daresay that Queen Sian will be delighted at the chance to poke further fun at me! Nice photos and looks like a pretty good turn out, glad you all enjoyed it. Everyone missed you, Jess and Lester very much Trace. Hope you can make Bradgate Park for the March Walk. On that note, has anyone got a suggestion as to car park rendezvous? I think there are several and I’m not familiar with any of them.

By special request.... ....although admittedly she was quite poorly that day and was suffering from that rather than nodding off after a long walk. Xander had obviously read somewhere about sick people needing body warmth....!!!!

Regarding car parking at Bradgate Park, I recommend either the one at Old John, or the one in Cropston at the rear of the park close to Swithland Woods. The main entrance to the park in Newtown Linford, is usually the busiest. However, there is the best tea room (Jade Tea Rooms) close to the main entrance, which serves huge slices of homemade cake, quite expensive, but they are well worth the money. The owners are okay with dogs if we sit outside! So perhaps this may be a better choice if we are to be swayed by the cake option, and I know I am easily swayed by CAKE! ;D ;D For more information on Bradgate Park see this link: www.goleicestershire.com/outdoors/thedms.asp?dms=13&venue=2500180Claire

I'd plump for the car park in cropston near swithland woods.I don't know if it will be open but theres a new tea room inside the park now with tables and benches.

Speaking from experience Jade Tea rooms has the best cakes and food but there is always a very slow queue! Well worth the wait - Demetre loves the 'rocky road' and he is a connoisseur of sweet things. The cafe in the park is fine for basics and has plenty of places to sit but I've noticed there are always dogs running around off lead here. I think I'll be going to Jade...........................I wonder why?

I'm up for the Jade tea rooms! Having been there on more than one ocassion, I too can vouch how great it is! Yes, we've had to wait to be served but usually only 5 - 10 mins in a queue. If we want to go to the Jade Team Rooms before / after the walk (not sure what time it closes!) we would have to park in the main car park in Newtown Linford. If this was the case, I would suggest avoiding the main path as that is very boring, and perhaps too many kids on bikes, and dogs running loose. There is a nice walk up the hill along the side of the park, on a horse track, up to Old John if you are feeling fit! ;D Someone needs to make a decision. How about a vote? Claire

I suggested the cropston side car park for the simple reason that most of the people who went on the swithland woods walk would have probably drove past it to get there so they would know where they are going, plus this end can be a bit quieter and the path is slightly wider.

I quite like the Old John entrance, but I'm happy to go with the crowd. Probably wouldn't do the cakes bit, so doesn't really bother me which car park (although I would prefer the quieter ones rather than the main car park) .
