I am making some dog beds and pyjamas for the rescues at WL to keep them extra cosy through the winter.
If you have an old single or double duvet that has seen better days, I can make great use of it!! Don't worry about tears in the cover or old stains, I can deal with those. I can also wash them. Similarly, old sleeping bags are extremely useful and have the added bonus (usually) of a great zipper!!
LARGE pieces of fabric would also be wonderful, especially hard-wearing fabric like velvet or corduruy. They do need to be large pieces though so maybe.... old curtains? Again, I can work around smallish holes and stains and don't worry about curtain tape.
For the pyjamas I need fleece or jersey fabric and I can use an old fleece jacket or even a jersey 'hoodie' or similar item as well as fleece blankets or jersey bedding.
Finally the item I need most of all is zips. As we put those summer clothes away and sort out things for the winter, if you are thinking of discarding a jacket with a good, chunky zip in it, please DON'T!! I will be very grateful as the chunky zips are quite pricey.
If you are thinking of getting rid of anything you think I can use, please let me know and we can sort out my collecting it. And you know that the dogs will be very grateful!!

Thanks so much for your kindness in doing this Amanda I'll put a large box at the back of the "bedding room" at White Lodge and tell Gill to point anyone with fabric/notion donations in that direction. Is that ok?

Thank you Alison, that's an excellent idea!!
If anyone has large items like duvets or large sleeping bags I am sure we can coordinate collecting them and if you're not sure if I can make use of something you're about to discard, please message me and I'll let you know. Most things have a use!!!

Hi Amanda, am going to WL tomorrow to walk the rescues? (Not sure who is still there) and I've got a bag of garments for you. Are 100% cotton fleece suitable for pyjamas as I've got quite a few new samples that may do - they may like the designer logos!!!!!

Hi Jojo,
That sounds wonderful yes. The cotton fleece will be excellent for pjs for the dogs, thank you. Nice and soft on their skin if they've been poorly or are very thin. I hope you'll see the fabrics in use pretty soon. Have a good time with Ted and Jill and Sam and I hope the rain holds off for you.

You can't post messages on there for charities. I tried a few weeks ago (also posted for coats, blankets, treats etc) and got a message from the owner saying it was only individuals that could ask for things on freecycle for personal use. It's a shame.

I put a poster on my village notice board this morning and came home to find a parcel in the porch when I returned from work this evening Not quite sure what's in it yet but it looks like a duvet and a puffa jacket with a long zip. I'll place the items in your box at WL on Saturday morning if that's OK, Amanda. Mandya (Bobby and Dinky's Mum) also has some things for you - she PMd me yesterday.

Brilliant!
Mum has created the first kennel coat with some left over flannel and some fleece that JoJo very kindly donated.
The first pair of Pjamas will be on their way by the end of the week, we will be coming in to take dimensions of some of the largr dogs, as Quinn, Xander and Drifter aren't very big and if we measured everything on them, some big old hound (like ted!) would be having a few issues getting in to them!

Hi Amanda and Siani - have got a lovely big piece of jade green quilted jersey for dog coats for you. Plus I'm working on getting you an overlock machine - would you be able to use it? it would be much easier than a lockstitch for many of the operations! When will you be at WL this weekend as I plan to come and visit the rescues and drop of the fabric, that is if there any to see?
