Following on from this thread.... wlld.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wlchat&action=display&thread=1838..... Pete, Shadow, me and Sol would love you to join us for a picnic at noon on Sunday 18th September to celebrate our engagement. Spread those tartan blankets, bring your own food/drink and feel free to share! We'll head off for a nice rural walk when everyone has finished eating - 1.30ish, say. Much of it will take place across small securely fenced fields for those who'd like the opportunity to let their hounds have an off-lead blast in a safe rural environment. Sol and Shadow have chosen the route, thus no stiles are involved! The circular route should take about 90 minutes but there's a 45 minute short cut for anyone who doesn't want to walk that far. If anyone would like to camp over in tents or vans, that's fine. There are no "facilities" but the pub - dog-friendly - is only 50 yards away and serves a decent pint (or so I'm told ) Park your car in the picnic field. The address is Shoby Lane, Grimston. Postcode LE14 3DD for those with SatNav. For those who don't, it's the turning directly opposite The Black Horse public house then through the gate down the lane on the left hand side. No need to say this to White Lodgers as I know it's a given but this is a public thread and we have a reputation to uphold: pick poo - and bring cake! Everyone welcome either with hounds or not, it'd be great to see you all.

It sounds great Alison - Diz, Harry and I are looking forward to it muchly (although am slightly sceptic as to the ability of the 'securely fenced' fields to contain Harry ) Jen x

...... (although am slightly sceptic as to the ability of the 'securely fenced' fields to contain Harry ) You're probably right Jen, none of the fields hereabouts have lids on them! Thanks everyone for the replies here and PMs - we're really looking forward to sharing the afternoon with so many friends. Can't wait!

Alison - what time do you think you might carry on to?
I'm working in London that weekend, leaving Kings X at 12.45pm so we could be with you by 3 (about the end of the longer walk)? Would you be heading back then to the Grimston field? I know we'd miss coming on the picnic and walk, but it would still be lovely to wish you both all the best in person & hound.
