After lovely day at Staunton today, Diz, Harry and I made our way back to derby for a walk with a new friend from dog training classes. First time Harry and collie Otis have been off lead together, all going swimmingly til Harry had one last sprint past us all and Otis just caught him with his teeth-no malice at all, just playing-but being a skinny bin sighthound with no hair to protect him, it tore all his skin (that really thin bit between the body and the leg...that the sun shines through on some hounds!!!) so after lots of screaming (from Harry), lots of blood (from Harry) and lots of stressing (from me and otis' mum) I managed to get azquick vets appt and to cut long story short, he is back at home after bit of anaesthetic and some stitches and A LOT of whimpering (still going on 2 hours after getting back from vets!) and is officially the wussiest patient ever. Anyway, reason I have put this on events thread is not because it is an exciting event but because it means that I won't be bringing him to GGG and won't be able to stay all day as can't trust him not to pull his collar off and chew his stitches (seriously, Harry in a collar, Big Nightmare!) so will prob only come for diz's class, just didn't want folks to think I was swanning in only interested in diz's moment of fame. Gutted as love the GGG but these things happen as we all know...

Sorry to hear this, get well soon Harry. We often look at that bit of skin on Evie and think to ourselves "what's that going to be like, if it gets cut?".

Oh no, I am so sorry this happened Jen. I know how easily their skin tears after Caleb needed stitches after madam bit him during excitable playtime. I really hope Harry heals quickly. Take care xx

Lovely day out to this - sooooo many wonderful greys everywhere, all very well behaved, some colours we've never seen before (steel grey?). Chatted with all sorts of people, one came with her grey from as far as London on the train! Evie didn't go in for any competitions so her dads had plenty of time to flash the plastic & cash around the shopping stalls. Loads of presents for her upcoming 1st birthday - she has a fancy new collar, an indoor fleece and an outdoor, waterproof coat. Sorry no pix - hands too busy with all the goodies!

I had a great day at the GGG ;bumped into a few of the White Lodge clan too ;D ;D well done to all who entered in the days events. I was most impressed with Jens fashionably late entrance into the judging ring also Dizzy's graceful trotting round for the judge. Was great to see hansom Flynn get a good result in his class and watch Kay, Rover, Poppy, Kaleb ,Tia plus countless other happy hounds take their turns in the ring ;D ;D I made the decision to leave Ollie with a pal as she was still limping from her run on Thursday and I did not want to hinder her recovery . It felt really odd not having her with me but it was for the best ( turns out she had a great day being spoilt rotten ). Roger had a great day mostly doing the following :- Whittling, sniffing loads of like minded hounds, watering vast swathes of the racecourse, getting fussed, gratefully accepting any treats or food proffered oh and whittling ;D ;D Maybe next year I'll enter him and Ollie into the show.....

We had a great day, saw some lovely greys, loved the 'dun' colour (like a choc labraodor) a new one on me! Ordered the hounds some made to measure pj's a new house collar for Caleb and lots of treats. Stallholders were very generous and donated quite a lot for the upcoming SWT (Sighthound Welfare Trust) auction. Please consider becoming a member as there will be lots of lovely goodies for hounds and hoomans and you will be helping DAWG (Dog Action Welfare Group) in Ireland who rescued Poppy & her siblings
