Hi - We walk our pair everyday at Watermead around John Merricks Lake. Just to let you guys know that the cost for car parking has now increased. I think it has gone up to £2.50 per day but this is not reflected on the County Council website just yet.
Thankfully we have a season card else I think I'd have to 'sell my wares' to afford that every day!!!
It is fab around there at the moment lots of young (Grebes, Moor Hens and Coots) as well as the resident Heron and [glow=red,2,300]a field full of frolicking rabbits[/glow]....imagine being a rabbit and seeing a convoy of Greys & Co!

Yes, it is now £2.50 to park for the whole day (no hourly rate and no change given either), I checked in there with Evie for a half hour walk on Monday while my other half did Dunelm and TK Maxx at Thurmaston.
Expensive, yes, but the park is looking good.

Our first walk since December and a local one to us but what a lovely walk. The sun was shining but there was a nice breeze.A shame quite a few of the regulars didn't make it but lovely to see Eileen and Chewie, the lovely Mavis and family, Maxi (looking stunning) and family , Suki and her Mum and Dad,Mavis and her family, sooooo funny, she helped herself to someone's picnic ;D ;D Karen and Enzo , Pete and Storm , Gareth and the lovely Roger and Jen with Diz and Mr Exuberant Harry. ;D We also met a lady with a very new absolutely gorgeous Brindle girl who has just finished racing sorry I've forgotten both of their names , there were several other people and dogs who's names escape me sorry. Some of us took the longer route round and the dogs went for a paddle.Suki was hilarious when she spotted the ducks and went flying in and had to swim back ;D I don't normally sing my dogs praises but I was pleased with them all today, Suggs had given blood yesterday and seemed a bit lethargic this morning but made it round and was as ever a good boy,Tia was a good girl and didn't react at all to the tiny Yorkie that plagued our walk,(thanks to her stupid owners, )it's a shame Tia runs too far too fast 'cos she's bomb proof with other dogs.Dilly who can be a bit "gobby" was polite with every dog and Flynn was our star of the day,he was off lead for the entire walk and wandered around occasionally going for a swim as good as gold, he didn't interfere with the other dogs right until the end when he tried to get Harry who was on lead to play.I was very proud of him and it's so refreshing to have a "normal" type dog" when off lead.It must be the 25% German Shepherd in him. Any way thanks to all for a lovely walk, but Alison, we missed you, see you at Thornton Reservoir.

Ditto to Linda's post, really enjoyed todays walk, weather and company made it but loved that it was a proper walk, i think we were out for about an hour and 20 mins, so it felt like it had been worth the journey for those of us that have to travel a little further i havent been to watermead before but will def go back, it was lovely! Looking forward to Thornton next month, weather like this makes you feel like there is the promise of months of sunny walks ahead - fingers crossed it delivers eh! Oh, and Jasper and crew - it goes without saying that there was icecream, we had a few sat in the shade at the end of the walk and it was enjoyed by all (but mostly the hounds!)

It was lovely to meet up with everyone again. Chewie's back is getting quite weak now and he didn't make much of the walk today but he did enjoy the bit he did manage and also had no trouble in practically demolishing 2 icecreams. By the way the new lady is Louise and her lovely girlie is called Kizzy (think this is how it's spelt). Kizzy retired from racing in March and has only been with Louise for 3 days and I think she did brilliantly today (Kizzy not Louise lol) considering it is probably the first time she has seen so many other breeds of dog and ducks and so many other interesting things going on around her.
