Claire, any thoughts on a venue for the next walk? I take it, it is on Sunday, 12th August at 2 pm.

Me too, I think Tracy goes in at the end you have your walks drying up nicely already, some parts a bit boggy but a good footpath where we walk.Tracys end probably better for WL walk, loads of Swans ducks and Geese wandering around where we walk.

Having never been to Watermead Park (even though it is quite close to me!), can someone please tell me where the car park is that WL meet? I've heard there are several placed to park and Watermead is huge!
Cheers

As linda said "its drying up nicely but some parts a bit boggy" this applies to the North End as well. All the paths are fine so as long as we get no rain watermead will be fine for the august walk. Claire you need the entrance off Wanlip Road Syston,The North Shore car park, once you've paid follow the road straight on to King Lears Lake.Hope this map helps.

Are we parking as far down as King Lear's Lake? Dunno if we're going yet.

We're parking in birstall, nr the Mulberry Tree Pub by the canal, and walking through.... following the canal... our normal walk with lots of 'off the lead' time as we never see anyone. Hopefully be a good turn out aslong as the weather stays nice...

The walk will be at 2pm on Sunday 12th August at Watermead Country Park, meeting in the North End Car Park - drive as far as you can go from the entrance, that way we have a better chance of parking together. Directions: At the junction of the A46/A607 - the big 'Hobby Horse' roundabout, head south on the A607 towards Thurmaston/Leicester. You will see a sign saying 'Watermead North and South'. Go under the bridge and take the next left turn at the Bentley garage (signposted to Watermead North). Take first exit at the roundabout (no choice really). Up to the end and turn left - you go back over the A607 on the bridge you went under. Straight over the roundabout and past the pub on your right. As you reach the traffic island turn left into the North car park and get £1.50 ready for the car park - it's pay on entry. Chris of Beastly Beast fame has kindly put a map up on the Beasts website: thebeastlybeasts.co.uk/map.php?loc=...p;lon=-1.105083It's unlikely either Gary or I will be there as it's his parents Golden Wedding Anniversary celebrations, and I will be kennel sitting, but we hope you have a good walk.
