Another fantastic occasion with a great turn out of WL dogs and success for Skye and Katie.
Class 1: Veterans, male greyhounds over 7 years
Xander, centre of picture with Tegan kneeling behind him in the white t shirt and Buddy with Phil to her right.
Class 6: Black greyhound males
Quinn and Tegan, who has now put her shirt on!!!
Class 12: RGT RETIRED GREYHOUND OF THE YEAR
- representatives from RGT branches nationwide.
To qualify, the greyhound must have been rehomed by an RGT branch
registered with the RGT no later than 30th June 2009.
Our WL representative, as you all know, was Suggs who is being handled by Linda (blonde in a black cardi and jeans with her back to us). Skye, next to Linda and Suggs, was actually rehomed from another branch but he's a WL boy to us!!!
Opening round:
Linda was so worried about her jeans falling down as she and Suggs did the running part!!!
They're moving well out..... the jeans are still up.....
and back again and the jeans are STILL up!!!
Yes Linda, you did it and they're STILL up!!!!
Suggs and Skye made it through to the second round!!!
This is Skye showing all his class and style as he performs.
Finally, the last 6. Suggs didn't make it but performed so well considering the crowds and the noise. Well done Suggsy boy!!
Skye and Katie are still in contention.
Another run out for Skye.....
and the result!!! The winner is Skye!!! Katie is on the right in the pale blue top next to the judge. Later she was interviewed for Sky News.
Skye and Katie on their lap of honour.....
....and looking amazing for the camera!!!
The WL contingent set up camp on the right of the parade ring. We started in bright sunshine but had the advantage of shade later in the day.
From left (and I apologise if I have left anyone out)
Phil and Buddy and Lola sitting on the grass; Conrad, Kerry and Dexter (hidden) and Jazz and Ellis in their picnic chairs; Crazy Claire with Ozzie and Whistler talking to Dave (Suggsdaddy) who is hanging on to Suggs; Tegan sitting on the grass with Sarah's husband (sorry, I didn't catch his name) and talking with Rosemary holding Oscar and Hilary holding Suki. Ruby, Izzy and Quinn are all saying hello to Oscar and Suki!
Dave and Linda making themselves comfy. New arrival Flynn, who took it all in his stride, on the blanket in the middle.
Sarah's Morty and Izzy demonstrating "Size differentials in greyhounds and greyhound types".
Phil.....
....and Buddy!
Dizzy's new brother Harry. A real energetic charmer!!
Sarah, hubby, Morty, Ruby and Izzy.
Class 13: Best Dog.
Skye and Katie go for the clean sweep.
Getting that stance absolutely perfect.....
Being looked over by the judge.
Sadly...the judge overlooked Skye's obvious winning qualities and he took second place and didn't qualify for Best In Show. But they and Suggs got the biggest cheers of the day!
There were far more people and dogs there than last year, about double I guess, but the organisation was excellent with the local cadet force bringing fresh water round frequently to replenish the dog bowls. The stalls were as tempting as ever!!!
Let's hope for more WL success in 2010.
