Alvaston to Elvaston .... what about Ulvaston, Ilvaston and Olvaston.... and heaven help us if there's an Ylvaston too (possibly in Wales  ). We haven't visited there yet although we often pass by en route to Derby. First time for eveything so hoping to see you all there.  |

This is the only walk on my stomping ground, for those wondering if it's too far, it's only 10 mins from junction 24 of M1 and really well signed. It's such a lovely place, really can't recommend it enough, last year it pretty much got snowed off so am looking forward to welcoming you all to my part of the world. Big car park, Cafe, toilets, kids play area and plenty of space for any post walk off lead adventures, just bear in mind they do have stables so please be aware if going off lead. See you there!

so sorry will not be able to make todays walk was so looking forward to it as well my motherinlaw was taken to hospital and although home now need to help care for her today and feel like a walking zombie as did not get home till 6 am this morning having been there with her all night as I sent my hubby home as there was quite a few swine flu cases in A&E with us , and did not want to risk him getting it as he gets astmah.

Lovely walk today, great to see all there, thanks for organising.
Evie fell asleep in the car on the way back home, first time she's done that!
Phil fell asleep after a cuppa when we got home, not the first time he's done that after a walk in the country...

Lol at Phil and Evie! Also enjoyed today, was nice to show off one of Derby's offerings! Was really chuffed so many people made the effort as we had lots of comments and enquiries from intrigued on-lookers so we did some good PR! Apologies but i didnt take any pics, am useless at remembering to take my camera but also suspect that Harry's incessant pulling would have made any quality pics near on impossible  see you all in Feb - where is it by the way? Wow! What a fantastic venue - the first time I've made it to Elvaston Castle and was really impressed. Lovely to catch up with old friends and to welcome new ones. I really missed everyone who couldn't make it though  I took a few pics and will doubtless forget to post them. Prod me if you'd like to see the rest! I like Elvaston Castle - usedd to go riding there when I was at school! We couldn't make it as Tiny claims to need new feet from our holiday and as we only got back yesterday I had to believe him.  |
